The innovative STIHL Easy2Start™ makes starting STIHL power tools easy and straight forward, without requiring a lot of effort. STIHL power tools with STIHL Easy2Start™ are indicated by the letter "E" in the model name.
CLEAR ADVANTAGES
- Low effort: The maximum pull occurring when starting the engine has been reduced.
- Pulling smoothly and evenly on the starter grip.
- Slower starting speed: The speed necessary when pulling the starter rope is considerably reduced.
- Reliable starting: No matter whether you pull briskly or slowly on the starter rope, the engine attempts to start easily and reliably.
THIS IS HOW IT WORKS
An even pull with two fingers is sufficient. Compared with conventional starters, the STIHL Easy2Start™ not only requires less effort, but also allows the starter rope to be pulled approximately two-thirds slower. The even pull on the starter rope overcomes the engine's compression to minimize the strength and effort required to start. Stresses caused by quick, uneven movements are avoided. The spring automatically releases the stored energy to the crankshaft, starts it moving and ensures that the engine will start reliably.
A spring housing with the spring and two drive lugs is fitted between the rope rotor and the crankshaft. The force used to pull the starter rope tensions the spring against the opposing force created by the piston during compression. If the energy of the pretensioned spring is greater than the opposing force created by the piston during compression, the crankshaft starts to turn and the engine attempts to fire.
In contrast to the standard starting system which requires quick or uneven movements to activate it, the STIHL Easy2Start™ helps pull the starter rope smoothly and evenly all the way out. The Easy2Start™ system takes care of the rest.
